He did his MS and Ph.D. from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and worked as a post-doc at Copenhagen University before joining the University of Chile, where he is currently Associate Professor and Director of the Post-Graduate School in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. He held 4 Chilean govt projects and is involved in the following international projects:

1. 2018-2022. Educating the next generation of professionals in the agrifood system (NEXTFOOD). Collaborator. Horizon 2020 - Research and Innovation Framework Programme.

2. 2018-2021. Enhancing livelihood through improving water use efficiency associated with adaptation strategies and climate change mitigation in agriculture. Collaborator. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), ARCAL CLVIII, Project N┬░ RLA5077.

3. 2019-2021. Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile & United States Energy-Food Biotech Innovations Network (BACCUS). Innovations at the Nexus of Food, Energy, and Water Systems (INFEWS), Research Coordination Network (RCN), U.S. National Science Foundation.

He has 27 journal publications, 1 book and has organized 3 conferences/workshops.
